RAP Results

RAP results consist of species lists, analyses of biodiversity patterns, and conservation recommendations. RAP data and results are made available to the public in the following formats:

  • RAP Preliminary reports: Following each RAP survey, the researchers review their results and write a preliminary report. This report contains the RAP team's first impressions of the area's biodiversity, preliminary species lists, and preliminary recommendations for conservation. The report is later finalized and distributed to all local and regional stakeholders and then posted on the web.
  • RAP Bulletin of Biological Assessment: The final results from RAP surveys are published as RAP Bulletins that contain complete species lists, data analysis, and conservation recommendations. RAP Bulletins are available to the host governments and local people where surveys take place, and to all interested conservationists, scientists, institutions and organizations.

RAP Bulletins are available to the host governments and local people where surveys take place, and to all interested conservationists, scientists, institutions and organizations.

To order a RAP Bulletin, please contact rap@conservation.org.

  • RAP Online Biodiversity Database: RAP now makes its data available on the web. Currently, on-line databases include the RAPs in the Pantanal, Papua (formerly Irian Jaya), and Guatemala. The next web database will include data from Guyana's Kanuku Mountains, integrating data from the 1994 RAP expedition to the Eastern Kanuku Mountains as well as the results from the upcoming 2001 training expedition. Visit the online RAP databases.
  • RAP Biodiversity Booklets: These biodiversity booklets help make RAP data and results accessible to local communities and schools. The booklets present information about species, biodiversity science, and conservation actions in usable, non-scientific language.
  • Investigate Biodiversity online expeditions: This web site allows users to meet the RAP team, see the areas where RAP works, andd experience life on a RAP expedition. Online expeditions include photo galleries, reports from the field, glossaries of technical terms, maps, and more! Visit the Investigate Biodiversity web site.
