The CABS Geographic Information Systems and Mapping Laboratory (GIS lab) provides conservation mapping and conservation database support for CABS staff and researchers, and carries out special projects specifically to enhance the research and development needs of CABS programs and projects. The GIS lab provides guidance, advice and assistance to CI departmental mapmakers and GIS users.

Rapid Assessment Program (RAP) Caura Watershed Map
Mark Denil, GIS Cartographer in the GIS and Mapping Laboratory of CABS at Conservation International has received the First Place award of the Best Cartographic Design (small format) for Rapid Assessment Program (RAP) Caura Watershed in the map gallery competition of the 21st Annual ESRI International User Conference recently held in San Diego, California. This conference is the world largest GIS user conference which has attracted about 11,000 GIS professional and vendors from the world.
